Far too often you hear companies describe their culture as "a family." I get it, and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I've been guilty of using the analogy more than once in my career. But as we all know, families can be dysfunctional at times. Families are also inherited, not chosen. Sure, we all love our family, but do our families consistently push us to be the best version of ourselves we can possibly be? Do they get down in the trenches with us when times get tough? Maybe, but not always. I think it's better to carefully select the people we go to battle with day-in and day-out. And I think more people should view their Agency as a Championship team.
